Who Is DJ Bills?
DJ Bills is a multi genre DJ based in Accra Ghana who has a love Afrobeats, Amapiano & Hip Hop.
Can you tell us more about your involvement in Rude Radio?
I always wanted to do radio shows so I started my show which didn’t do well, so I talked to DJ Kwamzy about it and he put me on for the Rude Radio show, I have been with rude for a couple of months and it has really helped me in my DJ career. I bring new ideas in every show and also meeting new creative DJs Shoutout to Kwamzy .
When did you begin your journey to work in music?
After high school I said to myself lemme do music seriously. So I was into beat making but i didn’t know how to play well so I switch to DJing after being a model for a month. I used to watch Virgil Abloh and I found out he was a DJ too. That made me do more research on DJs, and the love for DJing grew. I went crazy - watching boiler room shows, Tomorrowland sets, etc, and I’ve been DJing ever since.
What are you currently working on?
I have a couple of radio shows coming up, since that’s what I wanted to do this year. Also I want to play more gigs both internationally and in Ghana, so promoters should reach out.
Who are you musical influences? (Old and New)
Benji B, Virgil Abloh , Blackcoffe, Juls, Virgo deep, DJ Kwamzy, heavyk , AAA .The list goes on. It would take forever to name them all.
Who is a new artist you discovered recently that you want everyone to listen to?
Flexthefather, Zadi , Kwame Yesu & McRay. These are great talents from Ghana I think everyone should listen to and watch out for.
How do you find new music?
I used to listen to other DJs mix’s - any song that I come across I watch the track list or Shazam, sometimes Apple Music and similar music streaming platforms.
If you had to listen to one song on repeat for the rest of your life, what would it be?
SummerYoMuthi by Blaq Diamond. I don’t understand the Language but I love the vibe.
What's your current DJ setup and why?
DDJ -SB3 it makes mixing very easy but I will also love to use cdjs but for now I’m using SB3.
What vibe are you going for with this mix?
I will be mixing special edits, Afrobeats and Amapiano sounds.
What should your fans expect from you next?
I actually don’t even know if I have fans but I want to say this to everyone who listens and follows my vibe - God bless you, there is more to come , and keep supporting the boy.
What advice would you give to aspiring artists/DJs/Producers/creatives out there?
All I can say is they should keep pushing with the love they have for the act and they should not give up .
